Character Driven The Art of Brett Bean vol. 3

So I've been thinking about the next art of Book for Comic Con.  This is what I did for the name. 

Jonesin' part duh

2nd part of the Carmen Jones costumed model session.  Half of this set was just a hard rectangle brush, one was a elliptical brush skewed sideways to be a palette knife and one was all the new CS5 brushes I haven't got used to yet.  Mostly all experiments in rendering style.  Let me know what you think.  Each one less than an hour.  I keep it at that to make sure I stay fresh and don't kill the gesture of it all.  The more I noodle the more I kill the energy.

The Cold War Kid

I love Iron Giant, might be my favorite animated film bar none.  So my main idea is this is a Toy ray gun.  I was thinking of playing off of Iron Giant in Russia.  Except he just makes it all up and uses abandoned buildings and war parts to look like robots etc....  but yeah, in his mind a plasma pistol.

Soccer Girl

I missed out on a job that I was real bummed about this weekend.  It went to a great artist so I am happy for them but I thought it was meant for me.  I got bummed for a short time on top of being sick all weekend.  Instead of feeling bad about it I'll just take my own advice and get back up, dust off the pants and keep moving.  I don't usually attempt this type of subject matter but this is my way.  "It's not how many times you get knocked down, it's how many times you get back up that matter."

Started as a brown paper sketch and then this happened to it.  Cya in a week! 

I forgot about this

Bout a year ago I was asked to make 2 simple ideas for  a game pitch based off of Penny Arcades the Lookouts.  It went nowhere and I only had 2 days to disassemble the art and style but this is where it went.  A group shot and a progression and personality type study.
